The fourteenth and last picture is of two children, one wearing a black cloth over its face, the other a white sheet with a skelteon’s features drawn for a face. The background is dark and shadowy primarily.
From all of these pictures it is easy to deduce that at least in the old days, Europeans did not associate Halloween with much fun, and certainly not trick-or-treating. Personally I think the United States had the right idea.
